Vijayawada With elections a few months away, the YSRCP Government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken a huge step towards enhancing the well-being of outsourced employees.
In a groundbreaking move, the Andhra Pradesh Government has raised the salaries of outsourced employees in the Electricity Department by an impressive 37 per cent.
The decision, attributed as a politically motivated move by the Opposition TDP was formally announced through an order issued by the Special Chief Secretary of the Electricity Department on Wednesday.
The move is set to positively impact approximately 27,000 outsourcing employees working within the electricity sector. This salary rise has propelled the income of these outsourcing employees to exceed Rs 21,000.
Moreover, in a bid to further safeguard the interests of these employees, the government has also mandated contract agencies to extend group insurance facilities to them.
The government’s stance in this matter is expected to bring about a series of positive outcomes for outsourcing employees within the Power Department. This includes not only improved financial compensation but also enhanced insurance coverage, thereby ensuring a more secure and stable professional environment for these dedicated workers.
A ruling party spokesperson said their unwavering commitment to the welfare of its workforce, as demonstrated by this latest decision, serves as a testament to its dedication to fostering growth, equity and prosperity and providing social security to all. TDP State president K Atchan Naidu, while welcoming the hike, dubbed it as poll-eve move.
The outsourced workers through a statement issued by their union hailed the decision on group insurance and pay hike and thanked the YSRCP Government for conceding their demand.
